Marshall, North Carolina is the County Seat of Madison County and is on The National Historic Register so tax credits are available on most Downtown projects. Marshall lies along the old Buncombe Turnpike and the French Broad River. The train still runs through every day. It sits only 20 minutes from Asheville, but is at least 20 years behind it in so many good old-timey ways. We are rebuilding a community here and invite you to come and look us over. Zuma's coffee shop is up and going. The old Rock Cafe is about to reopen as a restaurant. The old Chevy Dealership building has been completely redone and there are apartments and retail spaces. Martha & Donnie Banks' building on Main Street has been rehabbed by Joe Penland into apartments and retail, and they are looking very good. Rob Pulleyn has finished to renovation of the old High School on the Island into dozens of beautiful, light-filled artist's studios. Still, we always need afew more good people to come here, roll up their sleeves, and get to work--working on Downtown buildings for a community market, a restaurant, a boutique hotel, galleries, stores, studios, bakery, salon, outdoor store, bicycle shop, overnight accommodations and professional offices--and on the land for organic farms, retreats, B&Bs, equestrian center, fishing camp--we've got the buildings and we've got the land--we're waiting for you and your family and friends. So, if you dream of a better, simpler life, where you can live and work and enjoy, Marshall, North Carolina may be the place to create it. Anything is possible here and everybody is somebody. No real estate problems here -- we're moving houses -- that's a 150 year old house being moved from behind The Rock Cafe to behind The Allen House on Main Street in historic Downtown.
